Single-Use Plastics Ban
More Highlights
- 24 Municipalities in Pennsylvania have now passed a Single-Use Plastic Ordinance.
- Following passage of the Ordinance, education will be a priority of the EAC.
- The EAC will also be providing a vendor list to businesses for plastic alternatives and suppliers of recyclable paper bags, which we are compiling now from information supplied by other municipalities that have passed ordinances.
- Recyclable paper bags may be provided by the business for a minimum charge of ten cents.
- In case of violations, businesses will first be given a warning before any violations will be imposed.
EAC Presentation Before BOS
Elaine McCarron, Vice Chair of the #NewtownPA Environmental Advisory Council, presented details of a proposed ban of single-use plastics at the November 8, 2023, Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting.
Steeple View Bridge Discussion
Below is a 8 minute recording of a discussion regarding the utility of this bridge to Newtown Township residents.
Newtown Environmental Advisory Board member Jan Filios also pointed out the environmental concerns, which may be insurmountable due to zoning ordinances that are in place regarding flood plains.
Shady Brook Farm Sale
Two meeting participants inquired about the planned sale of 80 acres of Shady Brook Farm and what impact it would have on surrounding townships, including Newtown (read "Shady Brook Farm Selling Portion Of Property"). We also discussed other possible future developments in the area.
After the discussion, I looked up the property in the Bucks County Planning Commission Subdivision Map and discovered that the farm includes a parcel of land located in Newtown Township (see image below).
