Technology & Communications Committee Meeting
Date: 28 June 2021
On June 28, 2021, the Newtown Township Technology & Communications Committee (NTTC) held its first LIVE meeting at the Newtown Township public meeting room in over a year! Attending were Committee members Daniel Williams (Chair), Andrea Lichtman (Vice Chair), Premsun Rajesh (Secretary), and Brian Miller.
Not all members, however, were able to attend in person. Consequently, a Zoom meeting was concurrently set up to allow remote access by those who could not be there in person. This is an example of a “Hybrid” in-person/online meeting. To learn more about hybrid public meetings and read pro and anti comments from residents, download the June 2021 Newtown News Update newsletter.
Agenda Items Included:
- Website Review: The Newtown Township website was reviewed to determine what can be done to make improvements.
- Hybrid Meetings: The committee will discuss ideas for implementing "hybrid" in-person/online township public meetings where officials meet in person as before COVID-19 but the public has the option to participate remotely via Zoom (or other technology) or in person. What do you think of this idea? TAKE MY SURVEY. Read "Middletown Township Hosts Successful "Hybrid" Public Meetings".
Newtown Township Website Review: Need for Analytics
Brian Miller, Founder & CEO of Unique Design Studios, gave a short preliminary review of the township's website. The following is an audio snippet from his presentation. In this snippet, Mr. Miller focuses on the importance of performing regular analytics to determine how the website is performing and what needs to be improved.
Hybrid Public Meetings Discussion
In the following audio snippet from the meeting, Newtown Township supervisor John Mack presents a case for switching from strictly in-person official public meetings to hybrid meetings that allow the public the option of attending in person or via an online technology such as Zoom.
NOTE: Two members of the Committee participated successfully via Zoom while others met in person at the township public meeting room.
