Bucks NAACP President Karen Downer Speaks About Policing

Karen Downer, President of the Bucks County NAACP, was a guest speaker at the February 17, 2021, Newtown Human Relations Commission (NTHRC) Zoom meeting. Ms. Downer spoke about her organization's approach to working with local police departments in Bucks County.

Survey on Police Department Diversity

This survey asks your opinion of increasing diversity in the NTPD. To date 221 local residents (mostly – 181 – from NTT and WT) have responded to this survey. 55% of NTT respondents (N = 98) says YES when asked if they favor hiring officers of color to diversify the racial/ethnic composition of the NTPD; 22% (N = 40) said NO, and 23% (N = 41) were not sure or “it depends.”
