NAS Subscription Drive
The proposed 2021 Newtown Budget includes a 0.05 mill (from 0.45) real estate tax increase to the Rescue Squad Fund at the request of the Ambulance Squad Chief, for a total millage of 0.50, which is the maximum allowable by state law without having a referendum on the ballot for residents to approve. The increase amounts to about $17,500 per year.
Only 5 percent of the NAS budget is supported from property tax revenue. The balance for its operating funds are derived from fees collected for services, grants (only 1 percent), and most importantly donations from residents. The subscription program for 2021 is crucial to help fund the following targeted initiatives:
- Additional ballistic protection for our staff
- Ongoing mechanical improvements and repairs for our building
- Ongoing support for our emergency bariatric support ambulance, one of only 2 in Bucks County!
