Supervisors Pass Resolution to Support Native Plants
Video recorded Wednesday, August 14 2019, at the Newtown Township BOS Public Meeting
Video snippet from the August 14, 2019, Newtown Board of Supervisors (BOS Definition) meeting at which Newtown Environmental Advisory Council (EAC Definition) member, George Skladany, and Allen Fidler, Chair of the Newtown Planning Commission, but speaking as an amateur horticulturist, make comments in support of a resolution in support of the use of Native plants. John Mack commented that the Resolution does not define "native plant." This opened the discussion regarding which list of native plants is the definitive list. Mack suggested the list of native trees, shrubs, perennials, ferns, and grasses maintained by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Dennis Fisher and Allen Fidler spoke about updating the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO Definition) to come up with an acceptable list.
